Forest Bluff School

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most often about the admission process.

  • Is there a formal application to complete?

We take a holistic approach when making admissions decisions, considering the child’s needs first and foremost. While we do not have a formal application, the Family Information Form is required for requesting a parent tour and a child visit.

  • How far in advance may I submit an application?

Parents are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

  • Who should attend the school tour?

Both parents (if applicable & possible). The initial tour is for adults only; your child will have an opportunity to visit the classroom and the teacher at a later date.

  • Is there a waiting list?

    Yes, depending on the program.

  • Does FBS have rolling admissions with enrollment mid-year?

Yes, we do consider applications for mid-year enrollment, depending on availability. Please contact admissions to inquire about current openings.

  • Does FBS have before/after care?

Forest Bluff School does not offer care before or after regular school hours.

  • Does FBS accept children just for preschool?

Forest Bluff School values the continuity of our close-knit community and the importance of consistent classroom/educational experiences for our students. A principal goal of our Young Children’s Community (18 months-3 years) and Primary Level (3-6 years) is to prepare children to continue their education in a Montessori environment through the elementary years. In that respect, FBS does not consider itself a “preschool” for children preparing to enter the conventional school system.

  • Does FBS accept older students?

We occasionally have space to consider applications from students ages 6-9. Students who have previously been enrolled in an accredited Montessori school are given admissions priority when considering placement.

  • Do younger siblings have priority in admissions?

Yes, we give admissions priority to younger siblings of currently enrolled students.

  • Is there a discount for siblings?

While we deeply value our families, we do not offer sibling discounts.

  • Does FBS offer scholarships or financial aid?

In an effort to make Forest Bluff as accessible as possible to families who are deeply committed to a Montessori education, we work hard to keep our tuition costs lower than most comparable schools in the area. For this reason, we do not offer scholarships or financial aid.

  • Does FBS have a payment plan?

To reduce administrative costs and keep tuition as low as possible, we do not offer payment plans. Tuition for the upcoming academic year is due in full by the end of June or within two weeks of acceptance for students enrolling mid-year.
